Ravello & Amalfi Tour
Wind along the most dramatic coastal road in Italy — the azure sea, the whitewashed town of Amalfi, and the hilltop gardens of Ravello with their unrivalled views.
The Amalfi Coast (Costiera Amalfitana) is one of the most dramatically beautiful stretches of coastline on earth, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Our private tour takes you along the legendary SS163 — the serpentine clifftop road that hugs the coast between hairpin bends, sheer rock faces, and glimpses of the deep turquoise sea — stopping at two of its finest destinations.
Amalfi: A Former Maritime Republic
Amalfi was once one of the great maritime powers of the Mediterranean. Today its whitewashed buildings cascade down to a small harbour, and the Arab-Norman Cathedral of Sant'Andrea presides over the main piazza with its distinctive black-and-white facade. Explore the narrow lanes, browse the artisan paper shops (Amalfi invented the modern paper mill), and enjoy a limoncello or fresh lemon granita in the shade.
Ravello: Gardens Above the Sea
Perched 350 metres above the coast, Ravello is one of the quietest and most refined towns on the Amalfi Coast. Villa Rufolo — whose terraced gardens inspired Wagner's Parsifal and where the famous Ravello Festival is held every summer — offers what many call the most beautiful view in Italy. Villa Cimbrone and its Belvedere of Infinity, described by Gore Vidal as "the most beautiful in the world," is equally unmissable.
Tour departs from Civitavecchia, Rome, or Naples area and includes all highway tolls and parking. The drive along the coastal road is part of the experience — budget at least 90 minutes for the SS163 section.
