Montalcino Wine Tour
A curated private journey through the Val d'Orcia wine country — Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, and the UNESCO streets of Pienza.
The Val d'Orcia is one of Italy's most beautiful landscapes — a UNESCO World Heritage scenery of rolling hills, cypress avenues, and medieval hilltowns. This private wine tour takes you through the heart of it, visiting three extraordinary destinations in one day.
Pienza: The Ideal Renaissance Town
Pienza was purpose-built in the 15th century by Pope Pius II as a model Renaissance town — and it looks almost exactly the same today. Wander its compact streets, admire the Renaissance cathedral, and stop at one of the alimentari for a taste of the famous Pecorino di Pienza sheep's cheese, aged in walnut leaves, clay, or tomato paste.
Montalcino: Home of Brunello
From Pienza we climb to Montalcino, the medieval fortress town that produces what many consider Italy's greatest red wine: Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. After exploring the 14th-century rocca and its panoramic views over the Val d'Orcia, we visit a local cantina for a guided tasting of Brunello and its younger sibling, Rosso di Montalcino.
Montepulciano: Vino Nobile
The final stop is Montepulciano, another hilltop gem whose Renaissance palaces and underground cellars hide the celebrated Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG. The long main street, Corso, is lined with medieval towers, noble palazzi, and cantinas carved directly into the volcanic tufa rock — perfect for a final tasting before the drive home.
All tolls and parking are included. Wine purchase is entirely at your discretion — we are happy to make space in the vehicle for any bottles you wish to bring home.
